The Galapagos Hammerhead Sharks: They inhabit warm tropical and temperate coastal waters

In some parts of the world, including Darwin Island, the most northerly island of the archipelago, several hundred Galapagos hammerhead sharks gather to form large groups. In this regard, the Galapagos Marine Reserve remains one the best places in the world to see them.

According to World Wide Fund, there are nearly 9,000 species in the Galapagos Islands and their surrounding waters, many of them endemic (species found only in the Galapagos and nowhere else on Earth).

More specifically, the Galapagos Marine Reserve is home to nearly 3,000 marine species, including the Galapagos hammerhead shark.

How can we preserve the Galapagos hammerhead shark?

We can adopt a Galapagos hammerhead shark through an initiative of the Charles Darwin Foundation, the largest and oldest science and conservation organization in the Galapagos.

Its research station has generated groundbreaking discoveries and effective conservation committed to protect the exclusive biodiversity of the archipelago.

Galapagos’ hammerhead shark conservation packages

  • $200 Gold scalloped hammerhead shark package: You will get: – Everything from the Silver package, PLUS – CDF coffee mug

How your adoption helps?

Based on the Charles Darwin Foundation and its research station, by adopting a Galapagos hammerhead shark donors will contribute to ensure their long-term protection.

This species is vulnerable to commercial and illegal fishing, as well as climate change. Therefore, their work is of incredible importance.

Selecting Your Vessel Wisely while visiting the Galapagos Islands

Choosing a yacht like Fragata or Golondrina, which are committed to sustainable practices, is a critical first step.

In that respect, both vessels are categorized based on comfort but adhere to strict environmental guidelines.

The Fragata, with its superior comfort, and the Golondrina, offering basic comfort, both operate with a clear focus on minimizing their ecological footprint, demonstrating that sustainable cruising does not compromise on the quality of the experience.
