With the outbreak of the new COVID-19 virus, popularly known as coronavirus, Ecuador has prepared to effectively detect any irregularity in national and foreign citizens who decide to enter or leave the nation. The local authorities of Ecuador have made exhaustive efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, especially at the country’s airports, especially at the Quito airport, which has one of the most rigorous security protocols in the region.

This time we want to talk to you about some actions that the Ecuadorian authorities are taking in hand upon the arrival of the coronavirus in the country, especially in the field of tourism, this way they can try to take care of the health of travelers.

In addition to the strict cleaning regulations that airport staff abide by, before landing, passengers must complete a written statement about their health, where they will also declare personal and immigration details.

Airlines arriving in Ecuador will distribute the traveler’s health declaration form on the planes so that the passenger can deliver it to the Ministry of Health personnel upon arrival.

Data to fill in the form:

  • General information such as names, contact telephone number, country and residence address
  • Information with flight number, seat number
  • Arrival date
  • The country where the trip started
  • Countries and cities where connections were made
  • The detail of the places you have visited in the last 21 days
  • Fill out an asymptomatic questionnaire about fever, headache, malaise and dry cough.

The obligation to deliver this document is one of the new measures adopted by Ecuador to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

People without suspicion of coronavirus symptoms will receive an affidavit of admission and will be able to follow Immigration. On the contrary, people with suspected symptoms of the new virus will be referred to the Health Control Unit to be interviewed.

What is preventive isolation in Galapagos due to coronavirus?

Through various means of communication, it was informed that anyone, regardless of their nationality, who fails to comply with mandatory preventive isolation, uninterrupted for 14 days and who comes from China, Spain, France, Iran, Germany, will be prevented from entering the Galapagos. , South Korea and Italy, as well as anyone who has passed through France or Spain.

Low mortality rate

According to the British media, BBC World, the mortality of the new coronavirus depends on many factors, such as age, sex, physical conditions, among other characteristics that play a determining role in the transmission of the patient.

Also, although the new coronavirus has spread rapidly throughout the world, it is worth mentioning that more than 54% of these cases have recovered, almost 42% are in the process of recovery, leaving a mortality rate of approximately 4 %.

No record of coronavirus in the Galapagos Islands

So far, no case of coronavirus has been registered in the Galapagos Islands, however, the transit technicians of the Governing Council of the Special Regime of Galapagos (CGREG) will carry out a migration interview in authorized ports and airports, with the aim of establishing a registry of origin and permanence of travelers in Galapagos.

It is up to you to remain alert to any discomfort, be cautious and take into account the recommendations of the experts, keep your medical history in mind and avoid as much as possible any action that could put you at risk.
